November: The Month to Prepare, Connect, and Inspire

It’s hard to believe we’re already in November! For nonprofits, this month is a pivotal time. Before the December giving rush hits, now is the perfect moment to focus on strategy, gratitude, and building momentum.

Here are six strategies I recommend every organization focus on this month:

Sharpen Your Year-End Message
Inbox overload is coming, and donors will be deciding which organizations to support. Stand out by telling a story that answers “Why now?” If you hosted an auction or event earlier this year, follow up with attendees to show them the impact of their support — and invite them to make an even bigger difference before year-end.

Make Giving Tuesday Strategic
Giving Tuesday isn’t just a single-day push. Use November to warm up your audience with teasers, behind-the-scenes stories, and gratitude posts. Think of it as a launchpad, not a finish line.

Lead with Gratitude
This is the perfect month to thank donors in meaningful ways. Personal notes, video messages, or calls from board members go a long way. Donors who feel appreciated in November are more likely to give again in December.

Plan Ahead for Your Next Auction or Event
Take time to review what worked and what didn’t in your last fundraiser. Reach out to vendors and secure auction items early for 2026. Planning ahead now will save you stress later.

Before donations start rolling in, make sure your online giving page is mobile-friendly, receipts feel personal, and your CRM is up to date. A smooth donor experience turns one-time gifts into long-term supporters.
